Mary Brickey

Mary Brickey was born in Bountiful, Utah, to Wayne and Joanne Brickey, and now lives in Orem, Utah. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from BYU, with a minor in Hebrew, and then took a hiatus from the art world to focus on raising children. From 2015 to 2020, she expanded her classical training at the Beaux-Arts Academy.

In addition to her own work, Mary has been involved in large scale projects with teams of artists, including the Roots of Knowledge stained glass windows at Utah Valley University in 2016, and, more recently, the 20'x50' mural for the Rome Temple Visitor Center of the LDS Church, for which she was the Project Manager and one of the primary artists.

Mary is a founder of the Inspirational Art Association, which continues into its tenth year. She is a co-creator of the Certain Women Art Show, which has completed its third installment and gained attention from both the Salt Lake Tribune and KSL news, as well as national women’s advocacy groups. Mary was granted the Vision of the Arts Scholarship in 2018, and the Zion Art Society Award in 2019, for her first solo stained glass piece of art. She has participated in local, national, and international art shows, and continues to create opportunities for herself and other artists through shows, events, and travel experiences.

Mary paints primarily in oil with some forays into ink, watercolor, metal leaf, stained glass, and digital work. She has ambitions to make stained glass a more prominent part of her future works. She is passionate about advocating for and empowering women and marginalized parts of society. Her highest ideal as an artist is to use insight and skill to illuminate deeply personal truths and connect them to universal ones.
